The BMW M3 GTS clocked a time of 7 minutes and 48 seconds at the Nurburgring during a test of the magazine Sport Auto. The reference was long awaited by fans and, although not official, it allows some comparison between different models. Surprisingly, only two seconds GTS beats the old E46 M3 CSL, while becoming the fastest BMW ever tested over the long German circuit.
In contrast, however, the improvement over the standard M3 V8 is truly remarkable, since about 22 km have been “filed” 17 seconds. A major difference, of course, given the type of tires used, but also 30 more hp and 150 kg were less helpful.
