There are netbooks, and there are eBookReader – and then there are still eDGe. This hybrid, but not the wireless standard GPRS or UMTS, but the hermaphrodites, the netbook and E-Reader brings together: The Entourage Edge.

Mr Senn predicted already in his pre-Berichtvon during CES Entourage Edge, we would come back to it again: The Edge combines the two display technologies in one device. Where the unfolded netbook keyboard sits, is found instead a second e-ink display. Now is the little brother, the Pocket Edge, appeared in an American home shopping channel. The rough data are the same: Android 1.6, 4GB memory, 1GB of which go on it for the operating system and software, wireless, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports and a card slot – this time for microSD. In addition, you get a mini-USB and a two-megapixel webcam.

The screen dimensions were shrunk for reasons of mobility, as customers and reviewers complained about the weight of the 10-inch original. So there are left 6 inches of large e-ink screen and left a 7-inch resistive touch screen in color. Both provide a resolution of 800 * 480 pixels but differ in operation: The e-ink area is served by a Wacom stylus, called Penabled, Android’s UI responds to finger input (resistive) and designing optical trackpad.

The total package will provide netbook-like work and carefree reading pleasure alike. But it weighs 610g with almost three times as much as a conventional reader and the difference is quite significant. This not enough, the battery power is far behind his usual: given with 6 hours and 16 hours reading Android-pass is to make a clear trade-offs, with daily load may bearable.
