Intel has officially announced a new product in its family of solutions SSD: SSD, we refer to 310, in standard solution or MSAT Mini-SATA with variable capacity of 40 or 80 Gbytes and 34-nanometer production technology borrowed from that of the Intel X25-solutions G2 M in the traditional 1.8-inch form factor.
The particularity of this solution is given by the form factor, much more suitable than traditional 1.8-inch or 2.5 inches for use in systems with reduced overall size. The link interface is a mini PCI Express, SATA signal converted to handle both data as part of power. The overall dimensions are equal to 50.8 x29, 85×4, 85 mm, with a total area which is about 1 / 10 that of a hard disk drive 2 and a half inches.
Currently Intel has announced an official price of $ 99 for the version of 40 Gbytes, while the model for the request goes from 80 Gbytes to 179 dollars. The first notebook PCs with these storage devices expected to debut in the coming months: it seems possible that a number of new notebooks based on Intel’s Sandy Bridge family of solutions can also combine this storage technology in-house.
What are the performance capabilities of these new solutions? The proposal of 80 Gbytes has sequential read speed of 200 Mbytes per second and 80 Mbytes per second write data to the model to 40 Gbytes, respectively, down to 170 Mbytes and 35 Mbytes.
