After a month and a half of investigation comes the official response from Pentax about the problem reported by several users for K-5: in the first delivery of stock were some specimens with a “foreign substance” on the image sensor that caused the “stain” (we talked about it here). Pentax hours in a statement presented an official apology, acknowledging that the problem must be due to a defect in the manufacturing process: As a result, some images appeared in spots like raindrops.
