Microsoft announced the availability of the RC version of Windows Server 2011 Hone, known so far with the code name Vail. The operating system can be downloaded from the Microsoft Connect site, while the final version must wait until the second quarter.
As anticipated last year, Microsoft has decided to eliminate the Drive Extender functionality but in this first version of the operating system. Drive Extender allow you to search for new hard drives connected to the system and log into multiple disks as a single volume.
In its place, the company introduced Move Folder Wizard, a feature that alerts the user of a new hard drive and guide you through the steps of formatting and partitioning. When finished, you can move an entire directory from one disk to another.
One other novelty is Shadow Copy with which you can recover accidentally deleted data, returning “back in time. ” Microsoft says that turning this feature on the discs connected to data protection is guaranteed.
