Taiwan’s ASUS has announced a new low-end system with passive cooling. ASUS HD 6770 Direct-Silent is a video card based on Radeon HD 6770 GPU with 800 stream processors clock frequency of 850 MHz and 1 GB of GDDR5 memory running at 4,800 MHz effective with 128-bit wide bus.
The elimination of the fan, selected by AMD to dissipate heat generated from the reference card, has resulted in an increase in overall footprint. The cooling system of ASUS product occupies three slots and it consists of an aluminum heat sink in direct contact with the chip and four copper heatpipes. The sink has a length greater than that of the reference board and extends beyond the printed circuit board.
Like all HD 6000 series GPUs, including the ASUS tech support and the stereoscope Eyefinity HD3D. On the rear bracket are available VGA, DVI and HDMI 1.4a. For the power you must use the 6-pin auxiliary connector.
The company has not provided information on the sale date and price, although it can be assumed a figure of around 100-120 euros.
