The Sunnyvale chipmaker, best known for processors and video cards, has decided to make its market entry of RAM. In Japan, AMD has begun selling it under the brand name DDR3 Radeon.
The company tries to enter a field already crowded with producers who apply very competitive prices. AMD takes another step towards the so called “single platform”, where the CPU, GPU, chipset and memory are made by the same manufacturer.
The offer includes three series, two for one for desktops and servers. Entertainment The series is dedicated to users looking for an affordable PC that can play audio, video and games with a level of detail is not too high. ULTRA PRO Gaming Series is clearly aimed at gamers who are looking for memory modules with higher frequencies. Finally, the series is dedicated to enterprise servers and workstations, where the most important parameter is reliability.
All modules of 2 GB, but have different frequencies and timings. Entertainment The series runs at 1,333 MHz with timings of 9-9-9, while the series ULTRA PRO Gaming has a frequency of 1,600 MHz and timings 11/11/11. A module with 2 GB Series Entertainment is Japanese in stores at a price of $ 20.
