At the moment we do not have many details, but almost certainly the new processor Intel Medfield belonging to the family and specific for tablets and smartphones, will have better performance of the Atom Z670, a single-core 1.5GHz model with a TDP of 3W and production process at 45 nanomentr. With the transition to 32 nanometer architecture and then to 22 nanometers, the TDP will be cut down significantly and the CPU power migliorarà significantly.

In the coming days, and exactly 13 to 15 September, will be held in San Francisco IDF 2011. This time Intel will release some interesting details about the next generation of processors and show the demo to test its potential. Until now, in fact, the prototypes of smartphones with Intel chips have reported good performance with fuel consumption at idle too high. The Santa Clara company, however, promised significant improvements on fuel consumption with the transition to 32 nanometers and the introduction of Medfield.

Along with this platform, Intel is developing Intel Clover Trail, a CPU that could substitute for Intel Oak Trail tablets and reach the market in the second half of 2012, before the launch of Windows 8. The coming months will be important for the entire industry.
